This is the English language version of a museum exhibition catalog of Oriental rugs on display during the 9th International Conference on Oriental Carpets. It has several sections showing numerous impressive, mostly unpublished, weavings from Anatolia, Central Asia, East Turkestan, Caucasus, Persia, Tibet, China, Mughal India and Mediterranean countries. Informative captions are written by the editors and by specialists including Robert Pinner, Hans Konig, Alberto Boralevi, Jurg Rageth and Stephen Cohen. An extensive section, "The Turkmen Wedding", by Elena Tsareva and Irina Bogoslovskaya illustrates 35 excellent and previously unpublished examples from the Russian State Museum Collection in St. Petersburg.

"The rugs…extend well beyond standard fare with enough important and unusual pieces to reward careful attention." Murray L. Eiland Jr., Hali #110 May-June 2000, pp. 79-80.
