Important book in this area. Exhibition catalog from 8th International Conference on Oriental Carpets. The groundbreaking book on these diminutive treasures. Excellent introduction covers historical background and merging influences from both the ancient Mediterranean world and from nomadic tribes originating in the east. Looks at early Anatolian carpet designs and their relationship to the yastik, discusses dating and regional design/technical differences. Color illustrations are organized by geographical regions of Turkey and assist in viewing design similarities within these areas.
